Who are we?
We are a group of 4 Anglican churches in Stanground, Farcet and Fletton on the SE side of Peterborough. We’re a diverse, multi-generational church community in a suburban area of 35,000 people in one of the fastest growing cities in the UK.
We are also at the start of an exciting new journey. Our new vicar Tom Simpson starts in July 2026, and we are seeking to recruit a pastoral worker to work alongside him as we seek to grow as disciples of Jesus and share the good news of Jesus with the people around us. Tom is joining from St Matthew’s Church, Cambridge (www.stmatthews.uk), and this post is funded by St Matthew’s to support ministry in Stanground, Farcet, and Fletton.


Role description
We’d like you to be able to:
- Preach regularly (1-2 times a month), with feedback and support from Tom our vicar.
- Take an active part in the pastoral and evangelistic ministry of the churches.
Beyond this, we will tailor your role to your current gifts and skills, but possible other areas of ministry could include:
- Enabling children and youth work (both on Sundays and in the week)
- Leading or facilitating mid-week discipleship groups and one-to-one discipleship.


Person specification
We seek a candidate who:
- Is a whole-hearted follower of Jesus
- Has about 2-6 years’ experience (e.g.as church apprentice, intern, youth or student worker)
- Can show evidence of faithful, engaging, expository Bible preaching
- Is available to start 1st September 2026 and likely to stay for at least two years
- Shares our commitment to safeguarding the welfare of young or vulnerable people
- Can provide good references and background checks, eligible to work in the UK
- Is a good communicator and creative problem-solver.


We’re offering:
- pay matching unqualified teachers (£25k-£35k, depending on experience/training)

- weekly meetings for support and training
